Activity Log
A Review Assignment is another member’s script, given to you to review. Reviewing is how you earn Review Credits for reviews of your own scripts. Open Review Assignments from the menu under your picture.
Getting an assignment
- The first time, you agree to the Reviewer’s Pledge: to read the whole script, to be honest and constructive about the writing and never the writer, to say what works as well as what does not, to write the review yourself, to keep the script and its ideas to yourself, and to finish on time or give it back.
- Choose the script types and genres you want to review, or leave them all unchecked to be given the next script in line. The number beside each one is how many scripts are waiting.
- Press Get an Assignment and we give you the script that has waited longest among the kinds you chose. You are never given your own script, or a script you have been given before.
- You can hold one assignment at a time — two for Pro and Industry members.
Writing the review
- Press Read the Script and read the whole thing first. Write the Review appears once you have opened the script, and a review can be submitted two hours after you were given it at the earliest.
- Score the script on nine categories, then write at least 300 words between Your Review and Advice for Next Steps. Everything is saved as you go.
- You can leave comments on the script as you read. They are seen only by you until you submit your review.
- When you submit, the review goes onto the script with your name on it, the writer is emailed it, and the credits are yours.
Deadlines
- You have 7 days to write each review. We email you the day before it is due.
- Need more time? In the last three days you can extend it once, by three more days.
- If you cannot finish it, give it back — you can give one back every 24 hours. It goes to another member, and you will not be given that script again.
- If the time runs out, the assignment lapses. There is no penalty, but the script goes to another member, and you will not be given it again.
Other members can rate how helpful your review was, and the writer can report a review that breaks the pledge.
