Yes — turn on “Keep my profile private” on your own profile
Open your profile and you will find the switch below your details, beside the settings for who can send you messages. Turning it on asks you to confirm, and shows you who will still be able to see your profile before anything changes.
What changes
- You leave the Member Directory.
- You stop appearing in member searches — the boxes where members look somebody up by name to share a screenplay, invite them to an idea, name their representative, or attach somebody to a script.
- Your profile page is closed to everybody else. A member who follows a link to it is told the profile is private, and sees nothing of yours — not your picture, your About Me, your credits or your files. Your name does not appear in their browser tab either.
Who can still see it
Private means private from people you do not know. It does not cut you off from the people you are already working with, so these members can still open your profile:
- Anyone you have sent a message to
- Anyone you have invited to a screenplay or an idea, and anyone whose invitation you accepted
- Anyone whose screenplay you asked to read, or who you allowed to read yours
- Your representatives, and the clients you represent
- People attached to your screenplays, and the writers of screenplays you are attached to
- Analysts writing coverage of your screenplays
- Script 360 staff
In every case it is something you started or agreed to. A stranger cannot get onto this list by writing to you or inviting you to something you never accepted.
What stays the same
Your name stays on your work. A screenplay you have listed in the Script Library, coverage on Browse Coverage, and anything you have posted still carry your name — but for anybody not on the list above, your name is plain text rather than a link to your profile. Searching the Library for your name still finds your listed screenplays. If you want a screenplay out of the Library, unlist it.
It does not stop messages. Who can write to you is a separate setting — see How do I limit who can contact me? — and so is blocking one person, which you can read about in Can I block members from contacting me?
It does not undo what you have already shared. Anybody reading one of your screenplays keeps reading it until you remove them.
Changing your mind
Turn the switch off and you are back in the Directory and the searches straight away, and any member can see your profile again.
