Script Elements

The paragraphs that make up a Screenplay

Be sure you know the Elements (paragraph types) that make up a screenplay

As you should already know, screenplays are composed of different types of paragraphs (called Elements):

  • Scene Headings (Upper case by default)
  • Action
  • Character Names
  • Parentheticals
  • Dialogue (Upper case by default)
  • Parentheticals
  • Transitions (Upper case by default)
  • …and others such as Shots, Act Breaks, etc)

As you should also know, each Element is built in with the proper Industry-Standard margins that allows them to appear on the page as they should to look as expected by others in the Industry.

We Use Industry-Standard Element Settings

Built into our editor are all the default, expected settings for each element. Scene Headings, Character Names and Transitions are all upper case, so there should be no need to alter or change them in most cases:
