Scene Navigator

Navigate around the script or reorder scenes with ease

Quickly view, scroll to or reorder your Scenes

Because a script can be 100+ pages, we created a slide-out sidebar that contains a list of every scene, including the Scene Heading, first line of action, the page number as well as the length of each scene using the Industry standard eights-of-a-page notation (i.e. 1 3/8 pages).

To view the Scene Navigator, click on the Navigator item in the blue-shaded sidebar at the left edge of the window:

While that is a toggle (open on first click, close if you click again), we will focus on opening for now. When you click on it, you will the second sidebar slide in from the left with the scene list for the entire screenplay immediately shown:

A few things to note in the sidebar...

First, as you click or arrow around inside the script, the navigator will show the current scene with a light blue background and a thick brown left edge.

Second, if you scroll within the navigator list and click on a scene, the script will be immediately scrolled to that scene.

Third, and perhaps most significant, you can click on a scene in the navigator, hold the mouse down and drag the scene up or down. When you let go of the mouse, the scene will get moved to the new spot indicated.

Note: Because dragging a scene in the Navigator uses cut and paste to get the job done, you can always undo it using the Undo item in the File menu or using the usual Ctrl-Z on your keyboard.
